TOWN Clothes is designed in Los Angeles by Krista Fox. TOWN was founded in 2014 by Krista (Bachmeier) Fox and Sheila Imandoust. Although Sheila is no longer a part of the daily operations of TOWN we are both lucky enough to be able to collaborate on special projects with one another.
TOWN Clothes focus is on reducing waste while designing timeless clothes with longevity in mind. For the most part we use vintage sourced textiles and fabrics we have on hand from seasons past. Our clothes are season-less and made-to-order, which helps us lower our carbon footprint.
Due to the events that 2020 bestowed upon us we are now operating very differently than we have in the past. Although it has always been imperative for TOWN Clothes to work with “sustainability” in mind and strive to have a small carbon footprint, we came to realize that has not been enough.
We noticed throughout the years we kept having to clear inventory to make room for new inventory and it became a vicious cycle of marking down pieces of clothing we worked super hard on and paid a lot of money to make just to do it again the following season. We wanted to break this cycle to reduce waste, lower our overhead costs (so we could lower our prices), and in turn, lower our carbon footprint by a ton. Moving forward TOWN will be operating on a made-to-order model, while exploring clothing design using vintage textiles as well as our in house fabrics (meaning fabric bolts that have accumulated through the years/leftover yardage from seasons past.) Our TOWN Classics collection features fabrics that are purchased in bulk but we only purchase those fabrics in the exact quantities needed, so as to reduce waste on our end.
TOWN Clothes is sewn in Los Angeles by Martín Vasquez or myself. All cutting is done in Los Angeles by Fernando Silva or in house, by me. Sheila Imandoust sources and pieces our Patchwork Blouses & Patchwork Salima Dresses, as well as other special projects that are in the works.
